What is surround sound?

Surround sound refers to the application of audio speakers surrounding the listener. It creates the same listening experience as a visit to a cinema.

For movie surround, the front speakers should be placed either side of the viewing screen, the centre speaker should be over or under a TV, and as close to ear height as possible. Rear speakers should be placed slightly behind the listening position.

What are ceiling and wall mounted speakers?

In-ceiling and in-wall speakers can provide all-but-invisible sound throughout your home. They are specifically designed to be mounted flush to the ceiling or wall and feature acoustically transparent grills that can be painted to match your décor or left white.

In-ceiling speakers can be installed comparatively easily, as most homes have a suitable void space in the ceiling itself. This means you can put speakers in almost every conceivable location, from the kitchen to the bathroom.

What is a wireless universal remote?

Single handset simplicity is a dream for many hi-fi and home cinema enthusiasts, but it needn't be. A 'universal' remote handset can remove the frustration of juggling several controllers at a stroke, providing complete command functionality over every element in your system.

Universal remotes can be used to control lighting, air-conditioning, security cameras, alarm systems and much more. It's all a question of your needs, budget and preferences.
